Skoda Kylaq vs Mahindra XUV 3XO - Which One Should You Buy

Skoda Kylaq

The Kylaq is easier to recommend than its price suggests, because the good engine is standard rather than reserved for expensive versions, which is the opposite of how most of this segment works. Most buyers should take the turbo-petrol with the torque-converter automatic, which suits stop-start city driving and is available on everything above the entry car.

If keeping the price down matters, the manual on the base version is honest value, though stepping one rung up is where the equipment starts justifying itself. The practical question to settle before buying is service, since Skoda's network is genuinely thin and owners outside major cities report driving considerable distances for routine work, which is a real ownership cost.

Mahindra XUV 3XO

The 3XO is the choice for buyers who want power and space rather than European build feel, and its turbo-petrol is comfortably the stronger engine of these two. Take it with the torque-converter automatic if traffic is part of your daily routine, and note that Mahindra avoids a dual-clutch here, which sidesteps a worry that hangs over several rivals.

The unusual strength is the middle of the range, since the panoramic sunroof, driver assistance and surround-view camera all arrive well before the dearest version, which is rare in this class and makes the mid-range cars unusually good value.

Skip the entry version unless budget genuinely forces it, because it gives up most of what distinguishes this SUV.
