Kia's Syros EV is built on a reinforced K1 platform and offered with two NMC battery packs. The 42 kWh version delivers an ARAI-rated range of 443 km, while the larger 51.4 kWh pack stretches that to 526 km, making it the first EV in its segment to cross the 500 km mark.

On the outside, the Syros keeps things clean with flush door handles, 17-inch aero alloy wheels, and sharp LED lighting at both ends. Inside, the highlight is a 30-inch display setup that combines two 12.3-inch screens with a 5-inch climate panel.

It also gets ventilated front and rear seats, sliding and reclining rear seats, and an 8-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

Power comes from a 171 PS motor, good for a 0-100 km/h time of 8.1 seconds. Using a 100 kW DC fast charger, the battery can go from 10% to 80% in a claimed 39 minutes.

Safety kit includes six airbags and Level 2 ADAS, while buyers can choose from nine exterior colours, including an exclusive Graphite and Black dual-tone finish for the X-Line ER.

Battery and Motor

The Syros EV is powered by a 171 PS electric motor paired with an IP67-rated, liquid-cooled NMC battery. It is offered with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs, with the larger version accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.

Power is sent to the front wheels through a single-speed automatic transmission. It also gets paddle-operated regenerative braking with Auto mode, i-Pedal one-pedal driving, along with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), a battery heating system, Digital Key, a Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS), and a column-mounted shift-by-wire selector.

Range and Charging

The 51.4 kWh battery delivers an ARAI-certified range of 526 km, making the Syros EV the first in its segment to cross the 500 km mark. The smaller 42 kWh battery offers a claimed range of 443 km.

Using a 100 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 39 minutes, while the 10.8 kW onboard AC charger handles regular charging.

interior

Inside the Syros EV, the standout feature is a segment-first 30-inch continuous display that seamlessly blends two 12.3-inch screens for instruments and infotainment with a 5-inch climate panel. It handles wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates, and features a built-in dual-camera dashcam.

Up front, the driver gets a 4-way power seat. Both front seats are fully ventilated, complimented by 64-color ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, and a fast 100W USB-C port.

In the back, passengers get sliding and reclining 60:40 seats to dial in their legroom, complete with bottom-cushion ventilation and built-in sunshades.

A dual-pane panoramic sunroof opens up the cabin, while an 8-speaker Harman Kardon system handles the audio.

As a bonus, there's a handy 16-liter frunk under the hood for extra storage.

exterior

On the outside, the Syros EV embraces a clean, boxy SUV silhouette. Up front, the LED headlights are pushed to the bumper's outer edges, paired with standard LED fog lamps and sleek daytime running lights that double as turn signals.

Along the sides, you'll find segment-first flush door handles and roof rails, with a choice of 17-inch aero alloys or a 16-inch alternative.

Aerodynamic skid plates finish off the lower bumpers, while the upright, flat tailgate features an LED lighting setup that perfectly mirrors the front design.

For styling, buyers can choose from nine exterior colors, ranging from everyday gloss and pearl finishes to a couple of mattes and a top-trim dual-tone option.

These pair nicely with three distinct interior themes: Blue/Grey, Black/Off-White, or an exclusive Black and Hunter Green combination.

safety

Safety is a major focus here. The Syros EV comes equipped with a Level 2 ADAS suite packed with 16 autonomous features. To help with tight parking spots, it includes a 360-degree camera, a blind-view monitor that feeds directly into the digital cluster, and parking sensors on all sides.

On the mechanical side, all-wheel disc brakes and an electric parking brake with auto-hold come standard across the entire lineup.

Kia also bundles in 25 standard safety essentials, covering six airbags, stability control, and tire pressure monitoring.

As for official crash test ratings, Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP haven't been announced any ratings yet. However, you may want to check these cars that get 4 and 5 safety ratings.

competition

The Syros EV closely competes with the Tata Nexon EV and Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

Against the Nexon EV, the Kia offers better range (526 km vs 489 km), more power, and faster charging. But Tata holds its ground with a cheaper entry-level model and a massive, proven service network.

The e Vitara slightly leads the Kia with a 543 km range, a 5-star safety rating, and a more durable LFP battery. Kia counters that battery advantage with a Lifetime Warranty. However, where the Syros EV really shines, though, is inside, if you want massive screens, premium audio, and sliding, ventilated rear seats, the Kia is the clear winner.

Kia Syros EV range

Kia Syros EV FAQs

There are two battery packs: a 42 kWh and a larger 51.4 kWh (called "Extended Range"). The 42 kWh version has an ARAI-rated range of 443 km, while the 51.4 kWh version is rated at 526 km. Real-world range will be lower depending on driving conditions, AC usage, speed, and terrain, so expect roughly 300-380 km in typical mixed driving for the smaller pack and 370-450 km for the larger one.
The Syros EV uses the CCS2 charging standard. With a 100 kW DC fast charger, both battery packs go from 10% to 80% in about 39 minutes. On an 11 kW AC charger (home wallbox or public AC), the 42 kWh pack takes around 4 hours and the 51.4 kWh pack takes about 4 hours 50 minutes for a 10-100% charge. On the slower 7.4 kW home charger, expect 6 hours and 7 hours 15 minutes respectively. A portable charging cable comes included with the car. Note that all figures are Kia claimed.
Prices haven't been officially announced yet (launch is expected around 22-23 July 2026), but estimates from multiple sources place the range at roughly ₹13 lakh to ₹18 lakh (ex-showroom). There are seven variants across two battery sizes: HTK, HTK+, and HTX on the 42 kWh pack, and HTK+ ER, HTX ER, HTX+ ER, and X-Line ER on the 51.4 kWh pack. Kia is also offering a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing option that could lower the upfront purchase cost.
Kia is offering a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty, valid for 15 years or the life of the vehicle.
On paper, the Syros EV has a bigger battery, more power, and a longer claimed range than both the Nexon EV and the XUV 3XO EV. The 51.4 kWh variant makes 171 PS, which is higher than either rival, and its 526 km ARAI range is the highest in the compact electric SUV segment. It also claims a faster 0-100 km/h time of 8.1 seconds with the larger battery. Where the Nexon EV has the advantage is an established track record and a wider service/charging network from Tata. A proper comparison will only be possible once on-road prices and real-world tests are out.
Level 2 ADAS with 16 autonomous features is available only on the top-spec X-Line ER variant.
Boot space is 465 litres, which is among the highest in this segment. There's also a small 16-litre frunk under the bonnet - enough for the portable charging cable or a small bag. The rear seats get a 60:40 split with sliding and reclining function, so you can trade legroom for cargo space as needed.
Yes, but only on the X-Line ER variant. It gets an internal Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature, meanwhile external V2L (via an adapter from the charge port) has not been confirmed for the Syros EV.
Kia's K-Charge ecosystem aggregates over 20,000 charging points from 23 operators into the MyKia app, so you can locate stations, check availability, and pay from one place. Over 100 Kia dealerships also have DC fast chargers (60 kW to 240 kW). For home charging, Kia offers 7.4 kW and 11 kW AC wallbox options.
The dual-pane panoramic sunroof is available from the HTX variant onwards (both 42 kWh and Extended Range).
Every variant gets 6 airbags, ABS with brake assist, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, all-wheel disc brakes, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, and rear occupant alert. Kia bundles these under a "25 Hi-Safety Package." The ICE Syros scored a 5-star rating in both adult and child safety categories from BHARAT NCAP. The EV version hasn't been separately crash tested yet, but it shares the same platform and body structure.
