Windsor crossing fifty thousand sales in a little over four hundred days matters because no EV in India has scaled this fast in the four wheeler category. Tata Nexon EV needed close to three years to reach the same number and Mahindra XUV400 has not crossed the twenty thousand mark yet.
Windsor selling at an average of around four thousand units a month shows that MG cracked the mainstream EV formula in a way its rivals have not managed in their early cycles. This milestone signals that EVs are no longer niche experiments.
• The Windsor now comes with two correctly confirmed battery packs that finally clear the confusion buyers had earlier. The standard version uses a 38.0 kWh pack while the Long Range Pro gets a 52.9 kWh battery. Both use the same 136 PS and 200 Nm motor.

These numbers place Windsor clearly ahead of the Tata Nexon EV Medium Range which runs a 30 kWh pack and only falls behind the Nexon EV Long Range in peak power since that one makes 143 PS but with a smaller 40.5 kWh pack. On long trips Windsor feels stronger because the bigger battery loses charge more slowly and maintains speed better.

• Real world range has become one of Windsor’s biggest bragging rights because it consistently outperforms expectations. The 52.9 kWh model usually returns 360 to 390 km in mixed use which makes it a favourite for highway travellers. The 38 kWh version commonly manages between 230 and 280 km depending on driving style.
In comparison the Nexon EV Long Range normally delivers 280 to 310 km and the XUV400 EL averages around 300 to 330 km. Buyers who hate frequent stops gravitate toward Windsor because its range feels dependable and less stressful on longer routes.
• Windsor’s charging performance balances everyday practicality with weekend flexibility. A home 7.4 kW wallbox tops up the 52.9 kWh battery in about 9.5 hours and the 38 kWh pack in roughly 6.5 hours which fits well with overnight routines.
On DC fast chargers Windsor typically moves from 20 to 80 percent in close to 50 minutes. Nexon EV claims faster speeds on a 60 kW charger but real life availability of such chargers is limited which means Windsor’s consistent results feel more useful for most owners.

• Pricing becomes a major strength once the BAAS program enters the picture. If the buyer chooses the traditional full battery purchase the price sits in the mid to high teens in lakhs depending on the trim.
With the Battery as a Service program the upfront cost goes down sharply because the battery is not purchased. Instead the owner pays a rental based on distance travelled. Since no rival in India offers anything similar Windsor becomes the easiest entry point for families who want a big battery without paying the full premium on day one.
• The Windsor has been designed to feel richer than its price tag and the features list proves it. The highlight is a 15.6 inch GrandView touchscreen which immediately makes the cabin feel modern. Nexon EV uses a 12.3 inch display and the XUV400 has a noticeably smaller unit in many variants.
Windsor also packs ventilated seats, a premium nine speaker audio system, 256 colour ambient lighting, a full digital cluster and seamless wireless connectivity. Most shoppers who sit inside during a test drive immediately sense that the overall cabin experience is more polished than the rivals.

• Interior space is one of Windsor’s biggest emotional hooks for families. The long 2,700 mm wheelbase gives far more legroom than Nexon EV at 2,498 mm and XUV400 at 2,600 mm. Rear passengers enjoy better recline angle because Windsor offers up to 135 degrees which no competitor currently provides.
The boot is equally impressive at around 604 litres which makes airport drops, shopping trips or weekend getaways feel easier. Many buyers who travel with parents or children find this practicality decisive.
• Safety technology is another area where Windsor takes the lead. Higher trims offer Level 2 ADAS with adaptive cruise, lane assist, forward collision warning and traffic jam assist. Nexon EV provides ADAS only on a few top variants and the suite is not as extensive.
XUV400 does not offer Level 2 ADAS at all. For first time EV buyers who want reassurance during fast highway runs or crowded traffic, Windsor’s safety tech plays a huge role in boosting confidence.
• Windsor’s cabin refinement stands out the moment you take it on the highway. Reviews and user feedback show that the cabin stays quieter at high speeds compared to Nexon EV which can let more road noise in.
The suspension tuning feels soft enough to absorb uneven surfaces without feeling floaty. Nexon EV feels sharper but delivers more bumps inside the cabin while XUV400 has a firmer ride. Windsor feels calm and comfortable which makes long journeys noticeably less tiring.

• The running cost advantage is another reason behind Windsor’s strong sales momentum. Electricity cost per km stays far cheaper than petrol and MG’s planned service intervals keep ownership predictable. The lifetime battery options and the BAAS subscription help buyers feel secure about long term degradation.
Rivals like Nexon EV and XUV400 rely on conventional warranties which leave some new EV adopters worried about future battery replacement costs. Windsor’s structure feels more financially protective.
• The BAAS program deserves its own spotlight because it has completely changed buyer psychology in this segment. Many families who earlier feared paying for an expensive EV battery upfront now find Windsor approachable. With BAAS they only pay for the car body and rent the battery based on usage which brings down the entry price significantly.
