With its starting price being ₹21.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom), the most obvious competitor turns out to be the Mahindra XEV 9E. It starts at ₹21.90 lakhs, just ₹40K above the Harrier.EV. Overall, these two are quite toe to toe with eah other, but the Harrier.EV does have some good that make it the better choice here.
What The Harrier.EV Has That The XEV 9E Doesn’t
From electronic goods, to additional equipment improving drivability and off-road worthiness, the Harrier.EV is surprisingly well equipped. Here is a list of 10 things the Harrier.EV offers over the XEV 9E.
QWD Torque
The Harrier.EV's QWD (essentially AWD), dual-motor variant delivers a, previously inseen at this price point, 504 Nm of peak torque. In contrast, the XUV 9E's current rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variants offer 380 Nm. This difference translates to a more robust initial surge and greater pulling power.
2. QWD’s Faster 0-100
With its powerful AWD setup, the Harrier.EV’s 0-100 sprint clocks at 6.3 seconds, outperforming the XUV 9E's 6.8 seconds.
3. Dedicated Off-Road Capabilities
The Harrier.EV leans into its SUV heritage by offering enhanced off-road specific features beyond just AWD.
Six terrain modes
5 preset modes, namely Normal, Grass/Snow, Mud/Gravel, Sand, Rock Crawl, and finally a customizable mode, providing tailored driving dynamics for various challenging conditions.
Transparent mode
A clever feature that utilizes external cameras to display a virtual view of the ground beneath the vehicle on the infotainment screen, aiding in navigating tricky off-road sections.
Higher Water Wading Capacity
A notable 600mm, suggesting robust sealing and protection for adventurous excursions.
- Off-road Assist
4. Samsung Neo QLED Infotainment Screen
The Harrier.EV is a pioneer in its segment with a 14.5-inch Samsung Neo QLED infotainment display. This technology offers superior picture quality, deeper blacks, and precise regional dimming compared to conventional LCD screens found in most cars, including the XUV 9E.
5. JBL Sound System with Dolby Atmos 5.1
For audiophiles, the Harrier.EV offers a 10-speaker JBL sound system tuned with Dolby Atmos 5.1, promising a truly immersive and cinematic audio experience within the cabin. Those in the know will immediately point to the 16 speaker Harmon Kardon setup with Dolby Atmos, but that is on the “Pack Three” trim, priced at ₹30.5 Lakhs. The Harier.EV offers this as standard.
6. E-IRVM with DVR
The Harrier.EV features an electronic Inside Rear View Mirror (IRVM) that integrates a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) function, essentially providing a built-in dashcam.
7. DrivePay
A convenient integrated payment solution for FASTag and EV charging directly from the car's infotainment system, streamlining payment processes.
8. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) Charging
Sounds complicated, but that's the name only. This essentially allows the Harrier.EV to act as a mobile power bank, capable of powering external electrical appliances (V2L) or even charging another electric vehicle (V2V), offering immense versatility and utility.
9. Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold Function
While both likely feature EPB, the specific emphasis on the Auto Hold function for seamless stop-and-go traffic is a highlighted convenience for the Harrier.EV.
10. Wider Overall Stance
The Harrier.EV, at 2132mm, is noticeably wider than the XUV 9E (1907mm), contributing to a more imposing road presence and potentially better shoulder room. This will also help in on road stability, especially at higher speeds.
