The Baleno facelift was spied recently and there is a certain unavoidable hype around the premium Nexa hatchback, probably because its a new “hatchback”!!!
Everyone is chanting SUV 101 times everyday and here we have Maruti Suzuki hell bent on rightfully keeping the small car segment alive along with Hyundai and Tata, to be fair. Hyundai even dropped the prices on i20, which now starts at just 5.99 lakhs
Although the spy shots here shot by HarshVlogs/Youtube are covered in camouflage bumper to bumper, there are enough visual cues present to allow us to kind of guesstimate what Baleno facelift will be like.
Let’s start with design first. 100 percent Maruti is saying bye bye to their curvy, chunky design language in favour of a more rectangular and edgy approach, just like they did with new Dzire. The front bonnet looks like a slanted wedge flanked by equally geometric headlights.

The whole front area from radiator opening to lower vents is much more linear and smaller than before, suggesting a bit of aerodynamic tweaking going on.
The side profile is pretty obscure, but the rear quarter panel looks similar to Ignis in a sense that it is much flatter. Alloy wheels are probably borrowed for testing. Side by side with the old version, the rear window looks a bit smaller but that could be due to more black film used on the sides.
It does look dimensionally bigger, but it’s probably just in the photos. Expect near similar occupancy space as the current model of the Baleno.
There is no clear photo of the interior, but a fully revamped digital infotainment display is not out of the question. It could also get a better assortment of day-to-day features like Type-C ports, standard seat adjustments etc.

Plenty of rumors going around about their engine and speaking historically, we can expect the 4-cylinder to be a goner this time around, replaced by some sort of Z-series 3-cylinder
Not much will be changed in terms of HP and torque, and it could very likely be similar to the current Swift/Dzire with 80–82 hp and 110–115 Nm.
Maruti could surprise hatchback fans with a 5-star BNCAP rating just like the Dzire, making it one of the most affordable safe cars on the road.
It’s very hard to say anything more as only a couple of spy shots have leaked. We will keep posting more confirmed updates about the Baleno facelift as its launch date nears. It is expected to go on sale by Diwali for more or less 6 lakhs for the base model.
