The EX30 is the cheapest Volvo you can buy and it sits slightly below the EX40 in Volvo’s SUV family and is designed to be a more compact, city-friendly EV. Its design reflects Volvo’s global DNA, with a closed-off grille, Thor’s Hammer LED headlights with active high beam assist and a sleek crossover stance.
The India-spec model comes standard with 19-inch aero alloy wheels and is available in five exterior colour options. Practicality is also considered, with 318 litres of boot space, expandable via 60:40 split-folding rear seats, and an additional 7-litre frunk.
Powertrain and Performance
The India-spec EX30 is equipped with a 69kWh lithium-ion unit as standard. This battery pack delivers up to 480km of range on the WLTP cycle. Power is sent to the rear axle through an electric motor that produces 272hp and 343Nm of torque. Performance figures are impressive for an entry-level EV, with a claimed 0-100kph time of 5.3 seconds and a top speed capped at 180kph.
Volvo also offers one-pedal driving functionality, which allows regenerative braking to slow the car to a complete stop without touching the brake pedal. Charging is handled by an 11kW wallbox charger that can replenish the battery from 0 to 100 percent in seven hours. The brand also provides an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty on the battery.
Features and Equipment

The cabin of the EX30 is minimalist yet premium, sharing a layout similar to its larger siblings. The highlight is a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with in-built Google services placed centrally on the dashboard. The SUV also gets a new three-spoke steering wheel, Nordico upholstery and a premium 9-speaker 1040W Harman Kardon audio system.
Other creature comforts include dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, 8-way powered front seats, wireless and inductive smartphone charging, and a powered tailgate. The car also comes with a 3-year warranty, a 3-year Volvo Service Package, 3 years of roadside assistance, and a 5-year subscription to Volvo’s Connect Plus digital suite.
Safety

As expected from Volvo, the EX30 doesn’t compromise on safety. It is equipped with Level 2 ADAS features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and rear cross-traffic alert. The SUV also comes with 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a blind spot monitoring system, reinforcing Volvo’s reputation for safety-first engineering.
The SUV is priced at Rs 39.99 lakh for buyers who pre-book before October 19, 2025. For those booking after the cut-off date, the price will be Rs 41 lakh. Deliveries of the EX30 will begin in the first week of November, with the model being locally assembled at Volvo’s Hosakote facility in Bengaluru.
What makes the EX30 particularly attractive is its positioning. It undercuts premium rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, BMW iX1 LWB, BYD Sealion 7, Mini Countryman Electric and even the Mercedes EQA. Even after the introductory offer expires, it will continue to hold the tag of being India’s most affordable entry-level luxury EV.
