Flagship 7-Seater From VW

The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is positioned as the brand’s flagship SUV for India, sitting above the Tiguan R-Line. It marks Volkswagen’s return to the premium 7-seater SUV space after the Tiguan Allspace was discontinued in 2021. Measuring 4,792 mm in length and riding on the MQB EVO platform, the Tayron offers three-row seating with improved practicality. It will be locally assembled via CKD units, helping Volkswagen target a more competitive price range of Rs 45 to 50 lakh.
2.0-Litre Turbo-Petrol With 204 PS
Powering the Tayron R-Line is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque. This is the same engine used in the Tiguan R-Line, known for smooth power delivery and strong mid-range performance. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 7.3 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 224 kph, making it one of the quickest 7-seater SUVs in its class.
Standard 4Motion AWD
Unlike several rivals that rely on front-wheel drive, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line comes with an all-wheel drive system as standard. Power is distributed to all four wheels through the 7-speed DCT, improving traction and stability across highways, wet roads and uneven surfaces. This setup enhances driver confidence at higher speeds and during sudden manoeuvres. The AWD system also complements the Tayron’s performance-oriented R-Line character, ensuring better grip without compromising comfort or everyday usability.
XL Than Tiguan
The Tayron R-Line is significantly larger than the Tiguan R-Line. It measures 4,792 mm in length, 1,866 mm in width and 1,665 mm in height. Its wheelbase stands at 2,789 mm, which is 109 mm longer than the Tiguan. These increases directly translate into better cabin space, especially for second and third-row passengers. The longer wheelbase also improves ride stability, making the Tayron better suited for long-distance touring with a full load of passengers.
Third Row Comfort and Boot Capacity
Thanks to its extended length and wheelbase, the Tayron R-Line offers a usable third row rather than an occasional one. The second-row seats slide and recline, allowing easier access to the third row. With all three rows in use, boot space stands at 345 litres, sufficient for daily luggage. Folding the third row expands cargo capacity to a massive 850 litres, making it ideal for road trips, airport runs and family holidays without space anxiety.
Sporty R-Line Exterior Styling

The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line carries a bold and aggressive design. It features sportier bumpers, R-Line badges, and 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that fill the wheel arches well. The front gets an illuminated Volkswagen logo and a connected LED light bar, while the rear features connected LED tail lamps with pixel-style lighting elements. Gloss black accents on the bumpers and slim black cladding around the wheel arches add contrast, giving the Tayron a premium yet athletic road presence.
Dual-Screen Digital Cabin Layout

Inside, the Tayron R-Line features a modern, tech-heavy cabin dominated by two large screens. The 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system sits at the centre, paired with a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display. Most vehicle functions, including climate control, are accessed through the touchscreen. A silver trim panel runs across the dashboard, and an illuminated R logo adds visual appeal. Overall cabin design feels minimalist, premium and clearly aimed at tech-savvy buyers.
Massaging Seats And Panoramic Sunroof

Volkswagen has loaded the Tayron R-Line with comfort-focused features missing in the Tiguan R-Line. The SUV gets 12-way electrically adjustable front seats with memory, massage, ventilation and heating functions. These seats significantly improve long-distance comfort, especially for highway users. A panoramic sunroof enhances cabin openness, while 3-zone automatic climate control allows individual temperature settings for front and rear passengers. Together, these features elevate the Tayron’s premium positioning in the segment.
Killer Audio Setup From Harman Kardon
Tech highlights include an 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, augmented reality-based head-up display and connected car technology. The multi-function rotary controller on the centre console allows easy access to drive modes and volume settings. Ambient lighting with 30 selectable colours runs across the dashboard and doors, allowing cabin customisation. Dual wireless phone chargers further improve convenience, making the Tayron R-Line a well-rounded SUV for both daily commuting and long highway drives.
Safety Ratings and ADAS Suite
Safety is a major strength of the Tayron R-Line. It comes equipped with nine airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist and hill descent control. A 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and disc brakes on all four wheels are standard. The SUV also features a Level 2 ADAS suite for assisted highway driving. Notably, the Tayron achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP rating in 2025, reinforcing its strong safety credentials.
