Toyota India has teased the ninth-generation Hilux ahead of its India launch on July 28. The truck was first shown in Bangkok back in November 2025 and has since gone on sale in Thailand, Japan, and other markets.
It still uses the IMV ladder-frame platform underneath, but pretty much everything else has changed enough that calling this a facelift would be underselling it, from the looks to the cabin to the tech.

What The Teaser Shows And What We Know From The Global Model
The short clip has an orange Hilux splashing through a jungle trail. Up front, there's a honeycomb grille, slim LED headlights joined by a black bar with 'TOYOTA' stamped across it, and a silver skid plate.
It also gets wider fenders, a revamped tailgate, and taillight clusters with C-shaped LED design.
The teaser doesn't show the cabin, but the global model already on sale in multiple markets gives a clear picture. The old dashboard is gone, replaced by a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel.
The global version also gets ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS, none of which the outgoing Indian Hilux offers.

Same Diesel, Now With Mild-Hybrid Help
Under the hood, it's the same 2.8-litre turbo-diesel, but now with a 48V mild-hybrid system, which Toyota already uses on the Fortuner Neo Drive in India.
With the 6-speed automatic, output is 204 PS and 500 Nm, meanwhile the 6-speed manual gets the same power but torque drops to 420 Nm. Lastly, 4WD is expected to be standard.
An all-electric Hilux exists globally, but don't expect it in India anytime soon.
Expected Price And Competition
With ex-showroom prices likely between ₹30-38 lakh, the Hilux really only goes up against the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, as lifestyle pickups still aren't a big category here. Globally, though, it now has to deal with the Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton, and the Kia Tasman, which is Kia's first crack at a pickup.
Some buyers might also weigh it against the Fortuner, given that both share the same engine and platform.
