Following the success of mild-hybrid variants of the Toyota Glanza and Hyryder, Toyota India has decided to introduce the Neo Drive variant for India’s beloved SUV, the Toyota Fortuner. The Japanese automaker will sell its Fortuner and Fortuner Legender with the Neo Drive badging in India with an ex-showroom price of Rs 44.72 Lakh and Rs 50.09 Lakh ex-showroom respectively.
48V System

The Neo Drive variants on both the Fortuner and Fortuner Legender are mated to Toyota’s same 2.8-litre diesel engine as the regular Fortuner. The engine, producing 204 hp of power and 500 Nm of torque, now gets assistance from a 48V hybrid system to improve mileage and lower emissions.
The system features a belt-integrated starter generator and a lithium-ion battery that allows for smoother low-end acceleration, quieter operation, and improved efficiency.
What's New?

While the regular Fortuner and the Neo Drive variants are more or less the same when it comes to interior and the engine, the mild-hybrid variants do receive a minor upgrade in the features list. The Neo Drive variants get a 360-degree camera and a wireless phone charger
. Additionally, the exterior also remains unchanged except for the Neo Drive badging at the rear.
Pricing
The Fortuner Neo Drive variant is priced just above the 4X2 Legender variant, while the Fortuner Legender Neo Drive is priced just below the GRS 4X4 variant. Overall, the Neo Drive variants are only available in 4X4 AT variants and are priced Rs 2 Lakh more than the regular variants.
