Top 5 Features of the Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza has been a steady seller in the compact SUV segment since its launch. Its upcoming facelift is expected to bring some useful updates based on recent leaks and spy shots.

As its scheduled debut for July 23 debut draws near, here's a list of this compact SUV's top five highlights.

1. New 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol Engine

Maruti is finally offering the familiar 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine in the Brezza, but has retuned it for better performance to produce 108 bhp and 170 Nm of torque (makes 99 bhp, 147 Nm in the Fronx), paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Moreover, this powertrain addition could finally open up the Brezza to the enthusiasts once again, more than five years after Maruti pulled the plug on diesels.

Crucially, the Brezza (1.0-litre turbo variants) will now qualify for higher tax benefits, with only 18% GST being applicable. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol variants however, will still fall under the 40% bracket.

2. Revised Styling with New Alloy Wheels

The new Brezza looks fresh with subtle yet smart changes. It gets revised front and rear bumpers for a bolder appearance, along with generous plastic cladding that gives it a tough SUV stance.

New dual-tone alloy wheels add a premium touch, but they are likely to remain 16-inch like the outgoing model.

These updates keep the SUV's familiar muscular stance, while slightly modernising its design.

3. Bigger Infotainment System

The new Brezza is expected to get a larger 10.1-inch SmartPlay Pro+ or similar touchscreen, similar to the one in the Victoris. This is a welcome upgrade, as the current model's 9-inch system has long felt dated against rivals that offer 10 to 12-inch systems.

It should support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa voice commands, and premium audio with Dolby Atmos.

Paired with Suzuki Connect's connected car features, it should also display trip history and driving behaviour scores for individual trips.

4. Underbody CNG Tank

Introduced with the Victoris last year, the Brezza facelift too will get a factory-fitted, underbody CNG tank setup with the 1.5-litre petrol engine.

This smart placement frees the entire boot, compared to traditional and even twin cylinder setups. It allows seamless switching between petrol and CNG modes, giving excellent mileage and lower emissions.

5. ADAS Features

Safety gets a big boost with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

The new Brezza will include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and safe exit warning, among potentially more features. These smart aids help prevent accidents in busy traffic and during lane changes.

Combined with standard safety features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD,ESP, hill hold, and more, it makes the compact SUV a stronger prospect among some rivals which boast high crash safety ratings.
