SUVs continued to rule the Indian car market in March 2026.
The top 10 models together sold more than 1,50,000 units, keeping the overall growth positive.
Tata and Hyundai led the charts while buyers also favoured compact SUVs from Maruti Suzuki, Kia and Mahindra.

Tata Punch

Tata Punch was the bestselling SUV with 20,977 units sold in March 2026. It recorded 18 percent year on year growth from 17,714 units in 2025.
It offers three engine options (1.2 NA petrol, 1.2 turbo petrol, and 1.2 Petrol-CNG) paired with manual or AMT gearboxes.
The Punch holds a 5-star BNCAP rating for strong adult and child protection. Its micro SUV stance, high ground clearance, and practical cabin make it a popular choice.
Tata Nexon

The Tata Nexon follows close behind in second with 19,810 units sold in March. It posted 21 percent year-on-year growth from 16,366 units.
Powertrain choices include a 1.2 litre turbo petrol, 1.5 litre diesel, and CNG options with manual, AMT or DCT transmissions.
It offers six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, hill hold control and rear parking sensors, and carries GNCAP and BNCAP 5-star safety ratings.

Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta secured third place with 17,838 units sold in March. It saw a small 1 percent year on year decline from 18,059 units.
It is available with 1.5 litre petrol, turbo petrol, and diesel powertrains paired to manual, CVT, DCT and torque converter automatic gearboxes.
The Creta offers strong safety features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, rear parking camera and tyre pressure monitoring.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza registered 16,130 units in March with a 3 percent year on year dip from 16,546 units.
It is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild hybrid technology and a CNG option.
It gets six airbags, ABS, electronic stability program, hill hold control and rear parking sensors as standard.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx

The Fronx achieved 15,540 units sold in March. It posted 14 percent year on year growth from 13,669 last year.
It features 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and CNG options with manual and automatic transmission choices.
Standard safety kit includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and rear parking sensors.

Mahindra Scorpio

The Mahindra Scorpio sold 14,578 units in March 2026, with 5 percent year on year growth from 13,913 units.
It mainly comes with a powerful diesel engine and manual or automatic options.
Standard safety features include dual airbags, ABS, electronic stability control and sturdy ladder frame construction. The Scorpio N achieved a 5-star GNCAP rating.
Kia Sonet

The Kia Sonet recorded 12,012 units in March 2026, showing a strong 56 percent year on year jump from 7,705 units in 2025.
Powertrain choices include 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engines with manual, iMT, DCT, and torque converter automatic gearboxes.
It has six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, hill start assist and rear camera as standard.
Hyundai Venue

The Hyundai Venue sold 11,147 units in March 2026 with 7 percent year on year growth from 10,441 units.
It is available with a 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo options along with manual and torque converter automatic transmissions.
Standard safety includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring and rear parking sensors, and recently earned a 5-star BNCAP rating.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris achieved 11,062 units in March 2026.

Standard safety features include six airbags, ABS, electronic stability program and advanced driver aids. It has received a 5-star rating from both BNCAP and GNCAP for adult and child protection.
Kia Seltos

The Kia Seltos closed the top 10 with 11,041 units sold in March 2026. It posted an impressive 69 percent year on year growth.
It comes with 1.5 litre petrol, diesel and turbo petrol engines paired with manual, iMT, CVT, DCT, and torque converter automatic transmissions.
Standard safety includes six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and more. It recently earned a 5-star BNCAP rating.
