- ADAS Comes to the Nexon EV
- Exclusive to the Bigger Battery Pack
- Expected Pricing
Tata Motors is set to introduce a brand-new range-topping variant in the Nexon EV - the Empowered+ A 45. This new addition to the lineup will make the Nexon EV one of the few mass-market electric cars in India to come equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
It’s a significant step forward not just for Tata but also for the mainstream EV segment, which has so far kept ADAS mostly in the premium space but there are few cheap options available
ADAS Comes to the Nexon EV
The major upgrade with the Empowered+ A 45 is undoubtedly the Level 2 ADAS tech. Designed to make driving both safer and less stressful, this addition would make the Nexon EV even more desirable. The feature list includes Adaptive cruise control, Lane departure warning and lane keep assist, Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, Traffic sign recognition, and High beam assist.
Together, these systems help reduce driver fatigue on long journeys, add an extra margin of safety in city traffic, and enhance overall confidence behind the wheel.
While ADAS remains the key highlight, the Empowered+ A 45 variant will inherit the premium features from the current range-topping Empowered Plus 45 trim.
That means buyers can still expect luxuries like a panoramic sunroof with voice command, ventilated leatherette seats for added comfort, and a fully digital driver’s display paired with a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Tata’s Arcade.ev suite, which brings connected apps and services into the cabin, is also part of the package.
Other highlights include the JBL audio system with a subwoofer, a 360-degree camera setup with blind-spot monitoring, wireless phone charging, and conveniences like rear AC vents, automatic climate control, and keyless entry.
Practical features such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging also carry forward, giving the Nexon EV an edge over many of its rivals in terms of versatility. The Dark Edition and Red Dark Edition models will also continue alongside this new variant.
Exclusive to the Bigger Battery Pack
Tata has chosen to keep the Empowered+ A 45 variant exclusive to the larger 45 kWh battery pack, offering an ARAI-certified figure of 489 km, although in real-world driving conditions, owners can expect anywhere between 350 to 375 km depending on driving style and terrain.
Charging times remain unchanged, with DC fast charging enabling a 20 to 80 percent top-up in around 20 minutes. Power output is rated at 106 kW (143 bhp), with peak torque at 250 Nm, allowing the Nexon EV to sprint from 0-100 km/h in under 9 seconds. This balance of strong performance and competitive range has been one of the Nexon EV’s biggest draws, and it remains unchanged with the new variant.
Expected Pricing
The current Nexon EV Empowered 45 is priced at ₹15.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Empowered Plus 45 Red Dark Edition tops the charts at ₹17.19 lakh. The new, ADAS-equipped Empowered+ A 45 variants are expected to cost about ₹75,000 more than the current range-topping variants. This would put the new variant in the ballpark of ₹17.75-17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), keeping it within reach of many upper mid-segment EV buyers.
At this price, the Nexon EV Empowered+ A 45 will sit close to the Mahindra XUV400 and the MG Windsor EV in terms of affordability. The inclusion of ADAS technology give the Tata and the MG a clear edge, as the XUV400 currently does not offer ADAS features.
