The Avinya is Tata Motors’ flagship premium electric vehicle programme, aimed at redefining luxury EV mobility in India and select global markets.
Built on a next-generation electric platform co-developed with Jaguar Land Rover, the Avinya focuses on new-age design, advanced technology, high safety standards, and long-range efficiency, positioning itself against premium EVs in the ₹30 to 40 lakh segment.
When Will Tata Avinya Launch?

First unveiled as a concept in April 2022, the Tata Avinya represents a new design and technology direction for Tata Passenger Electric Mobility. An updated concept - the Avinya X, was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025.
The name Avinya, derived from Sanskrit, means innovation and reflects the brand’s ambition to move upmarket.
The series is based on Tata’s Gen 3 EV architecture, adapted to use Jaguar Land Rover’s Electrified Modular Architecture platform. This partnership gives Tata access to JLR’s advanced electrical systems, battery technology, drive units, and manufacturing expertise.
As of December 2025, the Avinya range is currently under development, with the first production model scheduled to arrive by the end of 2026.

Tata Avinya Design

The Avinya concept adopts a crossover body style that blends elements of a premium hatchback, SUV, and MPV. Its design is inspired by a catamaran, resulting in smooth, flowing lines and a stable stance.
Measuring around 4.3 metres in length, the concept features a low-slung silhouette to improve aerodynamic efficiency. Key exterior highlights include butterfly doors that open sideways for easier access, a panoramic sky dome roof that floods the cabin with natural light, and a clean lighting signature with integrated daytime running lights at the front and rear.
Tata Avinya Interior

Inside, the Avinya concept focuses heavily on space and minimalism. The cabin uses sustainable materials such as recycled fabrics and deliberately avoids conventional dashboard screens to reduce distractions.
A console-inspired steering wheel includes essential controls, while air vents are hidden to maintain a clean layout. Audio is delivered through a fabric-wrapped soundbar, and an integrated aroma diffuser enhances cabin ambience.
Most vehicle functions, including navigation and climate control, are managed through voice-activated interfaces. The five-seat layout offers flexible seating and cargo configurations, supporting a screen-free and relaxing driving experience.
Powertrains

Being a pure electric vehicle, the Tata Avinya is expected to offer battery pack options ranging between 75 kWh and 90 kWh. These are targeted to deliver a real-world driving range of around 400 to 500 kilometres on a single charge.
Ultra-fast DC charging capability is expected, with claims of adding up to 500 kilometres of range in under 30 minutes under optimal conditions. Rear wheel drive could be standard, while dual motor All Wheel Drive versions likely to be offered on higher variants.
Expect strong performance, with an estimated 0-100 km/h time of under six seconds.

Tata Avinya Features

The Avinya will feature a Level 2 + ADAS suite, including adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist. It will support over-the-air software updates, next-generation 5G connectivity, and AI-driven energy management systems.
Safety will be a key focus, with a high-stiffness body structure designed to meet five-star Euro NCAP standards, along with enhanced waterproofing and dust protection for Indian conditions.
Tata Motors has planned a five-model Avinya lineup by FY2030, ranging across segments - from compact SUVs to full-size three-row luxury SUVs. The first production model, codenamed P1, will be manufactured at Tata’s Sanand facility in Gujarat and is expected to be priced over ₹35 lakh ex-showroom. This will mark Tata’s most ambitious step yet into the premium electric vehicle space.
Upon launch, it will face tough competition from already established rivals from other brands such as Mahinda, Hyundai, Kia, BYD, and MG.
