Tata has laid out its masterplan to launch 6 new cars till Mar 2027. A few weeks shuffle here and there is quite possible given the whole ethanol blending drama and the dodgy international economy in general, so what could these models be, lets see.
The 6 car product launch will likely consist of 4 facelifts and 2 brand new models. Lets start with the new cars first.
New Tata Cars Till 2027
First one confirmed Sierra EV as it has been spotted in Maharashtra and other places wearing test camo and flaunting a brand new touchscreen. It will likely come in two battery packs as well.
The second one could be Safari EV or a special EV from Tata's Avinya program. Most people confuse it with the car name, its not, its the name of bespoke Tata EV architecture.
Like Born Electric is for Mahindra. No information other than its coming is available currently. The only thing we can say for certain is it will look stunning, like its concept, and will come with next gen battery, motors and super connected infotainment system with ADAS etc.
As of the Safari EV, its most likely not coming but its still worth mentioning, as Tata does not have a 7 seater EV in its portfolio currently, like Mahindra's XEV9s and Kia Carens Clavis EV. There has not been any test mule spied as far as Safari EV is concerned, hence the slim but possible chance it might launch.
Which Cars Tata Plans To Facelift?
Now as for the 4 facelifts, well lets see. Nexon, Altroz and Punch have already been refreshed, along with their EV siblings, bar the Altroz.
The only major refreshes Tata has not gone through now are Harrier, Safari and Tiago and Tigor. The 4 facelifts could be any of these four, my bet is the SUVs might get refreshed first as the pair was last uplifted in 2023/2024 model years, but time will tell.
And lets not forget the Tata first FFV (flex fuel car) which will launch at the end of this year, most likely Punch or Nexon.
Lastly the outlier Curvv, which has not been selling very well, and was refreshed lately. No way its getting a refresh as sales numbers say otherwise.
Not Just Tata, Most Carmakers Have A Solid lineup Ahead
Tata is not the only carmaker with such an aggressive launch strategy in place. Earlier Volkswagen confirmed a 5 car launchin 2026. Apaprt form this, 4 different test mules of upcoming Maruti cars have been spotted in last couple of months like Brezza, Baleno, an unnamed electric MPV and Fronx hybrid , Honda has got 3 cars in pipeline till 2028 while Hyundai is preparing to launch Creta facelift and Bayon cross
Its shaping up to be a pretty busy year again for us writers, buyers, reviewers and the whole car industry in general.
