Tata Avinya Platform Testing For The First Time

The upcoming electric vehicle from Tata Motors, belonging to the premium Avinya brand, has been seen testing for the first time based on Exeed Sterra ET. 

The first production model under this brand will be the Avinya X, and its launch in the Indian market is anticipated in 2027.

Update- The car is not Avinya X, its just a platform testing for Avinya model. The car here is likely Exeed Sterra ET, a chinese model

Exterior & Design

The camouflaged mule features a stylish and elegant design akin to the original idea. These pictures clearly show the spotless surfaces and extended wheelbase.

It features pull-out door handles and sizable aerodynamically designed alloy wheels covered in low-profile tyres.

The model here resembles a lifted estate car due to its elongated hood, inclined roofline, and rear hatchback. It features a divided headlamp layout, potentially including an LED light bar along with vertically aligned LED headlamps located on the bumper.

At the back, the vehicle features LED taillights that wrap around and a roof spoiler.

Interior & Technology

Although the cabin and interior details have not been revealed, the production version is anticipated to feature a modern interior with a large infotainment touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, panoramic glass roof, Level 2 ADAS, connected car technology, over-the-air software updates, and premium upholstery.

Expected Battery & Range

While Tata Motors has not disclosed the technical specifications of the production-ready Avinya X, the premium EV is expected to offer a battery pack capable of delivering over 500 km of real-world driving range.

Considering its premium positioning, the Avinya X is also likely to feature fast DC charging and a high-voltage electrical architecture for quicker charging times.

Why The Platform Matters

The Avinya series was originally intended to utilize JLR's Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA). Nonetheless, the automaker has now verified that it will utilize the Chery-JLR Freelander platform.

The switch to the Chery-JLR Freelander platform is significant as it allows Tata Motors to leverage a more modern EV architecture developed under the JLR-Freelander collaboration.

This platform is expected to support multiple body styles, ADAS, and larger battery packs, helping Tata compete in the premium electric vehicle segment.
