Range Rover Sport SV To Get Rs 70 Lakh Price Cut Under India-UK FTA

The long-awaited India-UK Free Trade Agreement is set to bring big relief for buyers of high-end British luxury cars.

Jaguar Land Rover India has become the first premium automaker to pass on the tariff benefits to customers. The company will cut prices of its imported Range Rover SV models by 25 per cent.

The biggest highlight is the Range Rover Sport SV, whose price will drop by a massive Rs 70 lakh.

India-UK FTA Explained

The CETA (Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) was signed on July 24, 2025 and is expected to come into force in April.

It lowers import duties on large-engined CBU passenger vehicles from the UK (petrol above 3000cc and diesel above 2500cc) from 110 per cent to 30 per cent in the first year, and further down to 10 per cent by the fifth year.

The benefit is limited to an annual quota of 20,000 vehicles, which must be shared among all British luxury brands.

JLR SUVs Expected Price Reductions

At present, the Range Rover Sport 4.4P SV carries an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.75 crore. Once the new pricing kicks in, it could cost around Rs 2.05 crore.

The flagship Range Rover models will see even larger savings. The 4.4P SV, now priced at Rs 4.25 crore, is likely to come down to about Rs 3.19 crore, marking a reduction of more than Rs 1 crore. The diesel 3.0D SV variant, currently at Rs 3.83 crore, should settle at roughly Rs 2.87 crore.

These SV models are hand-built by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations team at its Solihull plant in the UK. They are imported as completely built units (CBU), which is why they qualify for the duty cut.

Models that are assembled locally in India, such as the standard Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar, Discovery Sport and Evoque, will not see any price change.

The Defender range, which is produced in Slovakia, also stays untouched.

This is the second time in less than a year that Jaguar Land Rover has lowered prices on its top-end Range Rover variants. In September 2025, the company had already reduced prices by up to Rs 30.4 lakh after a GST adjustment.

The fresh cut under the FTA will make these SUVs more accessible for Indian buyers who have long eyed them but found them too expensive.

As the FTA moves from paper to practice, more British luxury car manufacturers, such as McLaren, Aston Martin, Bentley, and Rolls-Royce could slash prices on their models.
