New Renault duster Will be Unveiled Today

The new Renault Duster (third-generation model) is built on the modern CMF-B modular platform developed by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. This is a significant step up from the older platform used in the previous India-spec Duster. The upcoming Tekton will also be built on this platform

The CMF-B architecture already underpins several global Renault and Dacia models and is designed to support advanced electronics, stronger safety systems, and more efficient powertrains. 

It also improves ride comfort and overall structural rigidity, while keeping manufacturing costs in check. Importantly, this platform is future-ready, allowing Renault to explore electrification options later if needed.

Why Is the Renault Duster Arriving So Late in the Indian Market

The Duster’s India launch in 2026 is mainly the result of strategic delays from Renault. While the third-generation model made its global debut in late 2023, India-specific adaptations took longer than expected. Factors such as localisation, production scaling at the Oragadam plant, and Renault’s internal restructuring after facing sales challenges contributed to the delay. 

What was initially expected to arrive in 2025 has now been pushed to early 2026, giving Renault time to fine-tune pricing, strengthen its market strategy, and reintroduce the Duster as a high-recall nameplate for a brand comeback.

The earlier Duster, which was the first-generation model produced in India from 2012, was discontinued in early 2022 after nearly ten years on sale. Production at the Sriperumbudur plant ended as the model had started showing its age. 

Apart from a facelift in 2015, it received no major updates, sales gradually declined, and Renault exited diesel engines in 2020 following BS6 emission norms. Clearing remaining inventory and making way for a modern successor became the logical next step, especially since the old Duster struggled against newer and better-equipped rivals.

What Is the Expected Price of the New Renault Duster

In terms of pricing, the new Renault Duster is expected to start at around ₹10–12 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variants in India. Higher trims could stretch up to ₹18–20 lakh. Renault is reportedly aiming for aggressive pricing to regain lost market share in the highly competitive compact and mid-size SUV segment. The strategy is to undercut some premium competitors while still offering strong value, practicality, and brand appeal.

When Will the New Renault Duster Launch And What Will Be Its Price

The new Renault Duster was officially unveiled in India today, January 26, 2026, with the debut event scheduled around 6:30 PM IST. The launch is expected to be either virtual or hosted in a major city such as Chennai or Delhi. While the unveiling marks its official entry, actual sales and customer deliveries are likely to begin from March 2026. Bookings are expected to open shortly after the reveal, depending on Renault’s rollout plan.

Once launched, the Duster will take on some of the most established players in the ₹10–20 lakh compact SUV space. Key rivals include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Tata Curvv, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Honda Elevate. Renault is positioning the Duster as a rugged yet value-focused alternative, aiming to stand out against rivals that prioritise features, efficiency, and urban appeal.

What Key Features Will the New Renault Duster Offer

Key highlights of the India-spec 2026 Renault Duster include a bold and muscular exterior design complemented by full LED lighting. Inside, it gets a modern cabin layout with a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster, with a possible triple-screen setup on top variants. Safety is a major focus, with Level-2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance, along with multiple airbags.

 Powertrain options are expected to include turbo-petrol engines, likely around the 1.2-litre mark, paired with manual or AMT gearboxes. The Duster also retains its tough image with strong ground clearance, possible AWD options on select trims, and practical touches like a flat-bottom steering wheel to enhance driving comfort and control.
