Mahindra is all set to bring back the Bolero in a brand-new form. The next-gen model is expected to be unveiled soon with major changes in design, features, and performance. Recent spy shots give a closer look at what’s coming.
Fresh New Design
The upcoming Bolero sticks to its traditional, boxy design but gets modern touches to stand out. At the front, it could feature a redesigned grille with vertical slats, we can clearly make out circular LED projector headlamps. The bonnet is more sculpted, while the raised nose gives it a tougher presence.
The upright stance is further emphasized by tall pillars and a flat roofline, while new multi-spoke alloy wheels and side steps add to its road presence.
Revised Rear End and Strong Off-Road Cues
At the back, the new Bolero might get a spare wheel on the tailgate. The rear will also get new lighting elements, including rectangular tail lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler with an integrated stop lamp, and bumper-mounted reflectors. The squared-off proportions and flat tailgate give it an old-school SUV charm while aligning with Mahindra’s latest design cues seen in the Scorpio N and hints from the Thar.e concept.
Upgraded Interiors
Inside, the 2025 Bolero is expected to receive a significant update. A new dashboard layout, redesigned centre console, and improved infotainment interface are likely, along with modern creature comforts and connectivity features. The inclusion of an ADAS suite hints at safety tech making its way into the Bolero for the first time, likely inspired by Mahindra’s more premium offerings like the XUV700.
Underpinnings, Platform, and Powertrain Options
The next-gen Bolero is believed to sit on Mahindra’s new NFA (New Flexible Architecture) platform, possibly a revised ladder-frame setup that could offer better ride quality and crash protection. While the familiar 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine (100 hp and 260 Nm) from the Bolero Neo may be retained, Mahindra is reportedly evaluating the addition of larger engines.
These could include the brand’s 2.0-litre petrol or 2.2-litre diesel units seen on other models, possibly available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
Launch Plan

Mahindra is likely to showcase a near-production prototype before next year, alongside details of its new platform. Plenty of spy shots have surfaced indication of a a closer launch date
The current-gen Bolero might continue to be sold alongside the new model to serve buyers looking for a more affordable option.
