Maruti Suzuki has officially unveiled its first electric SUV, the e Vitara, at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The e Vitara is built on the brand's dedicated HEARTECT-e platform, specifically designed for electric vehicles (EVs). It will be available with two battery pack options: a 49kWh battery producing 142bhp and a 61kWh battery producing 172bhp. The LFP battery pack will be made in China with the help of BYD, who is also supplying batteries to Mahindra EVs.
Both variants share a torque output of 192Nm, and the e Vitara is claimed to offer a range of over 500km on a full charge. This makes the e Vitara a strong competitor in the electric SUV market, especially against models like the Hyundai Creta Electric and Tata Curvv EV.

The exterior design of the e Vitara features modern and sporty elements. It includes triangular LED headlamps, LED taillights, fog lights integrated into the air dam, and chunky body cladding around the vehicle. Additionally, the e Vitara comes with a blacked-out roof, 18-inch alloy wheels, C-pillar-mounted rear door handles, and ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) that enhance its bold, dynamic stance.
Inside, the e Vitara offers a premium cabin with advanced technology and comfort features. The interior is equipped with a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a 10.1-inch infotainment system, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The cabin also boasts automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and ambient lighting to enhance the overall experience. For added convenience, it includes a wireless mobile charger and a 360-degree camera to aid in parking and maneuvering.

The e Vitara is the first vehicle from Maruti Suzuki to come with a Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), offering features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring. Other safety features include seven airbags, disc brakes at both the front and rear, and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The SUV also offers drive modes to adjust performance based on driving conditions.
For comfort and convenience, the e Vitara offers a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, a sliding and reclining rear seat function, and ventilated front seats. The cabin is equipped with a Harman Kardon-sourced music system that promises a high-quality audio experience.

Not much is known about the Toyota's Urban Cruiser EV except it will have features, powertrains, and battery packs similar to the e Vitara and will launch by H2 2025.
