The Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift was spotted testing heavily camouflaged for the first time, giving us a clear hint that preparations are underway for its launch.
Since the current, second-generation Baleno was launched in 2022, an update was due.
As one of the top-selling premium hatchbacks in the country, we expect fresh styling and added features.
Expected Exterior Changes

Spy images show that the overall silhouette of the Baleno remains similar. This could be good news, as the design has always been one of this hatchback's strongest points. However, just like any other facelift, noticeable changes are still expected.
The front profile could see the most changes, with a revised grille housing a chrome strip connecting the headlamps, which could feature new LED DRLs. A redesigned front bumper is expected, possibly with a wider air intake for a sportier look.
Over to the side, a fresh design for the alloy wheels is the only expected change. Towards the back, expect a revised bumper and minor changes to the taillamps.

Possible Interior Upgrades and Features
Inside, it could feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster, new colours for the upholstery, and improved interior materials.
It remains to be seen whether Maruti finally offers a sunroof in the Baleno, as both of its rivals - the Tata Altroz and Hyundai i20 get one.
Safety features are expected to carry over, with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold, ISOFIX seat mounts, and three-point seatbelts for all seats as standard.
Major Engine Change Expected

On the powertrain front, the Baleno could get Maruti's new three-cylinder Z-series 1.2-litre unit producing nearly 82 bhp and 112 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT.
The Z-series engine is also hybrid compliant, meaning a strong hybrid variant could also be on the cards.
While a CNG variant is certain, the highlight could be an underbody setup, similar to the one seen on the Victoris and upcoming Brezza facelift.
The new Baleno will continue rivalling the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz. We expect a launch in the second half of the year, following the launch of the Brezza facelift.
Prices are expected to increase by some margin, owing to the upgrades.
