Mahindra is expected to launch a mid-life facelift of the XUV700 in the first 15 days of January 2026, and a recent trademark filing by the manufacturer strongly suggests the new version will be called the XUV 7XO.
This sharper name follows the pattern Mahindra started with the XUV 3XO, which replaced the XUV300.
XUV 7XO Design and Features

On the design front, spy shots suggest a bolder face with a redesigned grille and front bumper, along with slightly revised headlamps and LED DRLs. The side profile will likely remain unchanged, though a new design for the alloy wheels could elevate the road presence. The rear may feature connected LED taillamps, along with a redesigned bumper.
Inside, the cabin could take inspiration from the XEV 9S and XEV 9e, offering a similar triple-screen display. A premium Harman Kardon sound system, auto-dimming mirrors, and the ability for rear passengers to mirror their phones are also on the rumoured feature list. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a multi-zone climate control - an upgrade from the XUV 700's dual-zone system.
Same Powertrains
Powertrain choices are likely to carry over unchanged from the XUV700. Its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol produces 197 BHP and 380 Nm of torque, while the 2.2-litre diesel is offered in 153 BHP, 360 Nm (MX variants) and 182 BHP, 450 Nm tunes.
Expect the same six-speed manual and torque converter automatic gearbox options, with an AWD (all-wheel drive) option to continue on higher diesel automatic variants.
Safety Features

The XUV700 already boasts a strong safety suite, with 7 airbags and Level 2 ADAS on the top-end variants. However, it only gets dual airbags on its entry-level variants, and we expect Mahindra to offer 6 airbags as standard on the 7XO. This, coupled with its 5-Star Global NCAP rating, would make the 7XO much more appealing to budget-conscious buyers.
The XUV 7XO's launch in January 2026 could lead to attractive discounts on the current XUV700 soon.
XUV 7XO Price
Currently, the XUV700 is priced from ₹13.65 lakh to ₹25.14 lakh (ex-showroom). Owing to all the upgrades, the XUV 7XO range could start at ₹14 lakh, going up to ₹26 lakh for the top-of-the-line variants. It will primarily compete against the Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus.
XUV 7XO or XEV 9S?

While interested buyers wait for further updates about the XUV 7XO, Mahindra has launched its third electric SUV based on the INGLO platform - the XEV 9S. As an EV counterpart to the XUV 700, the XEV 9S sits between the BE 6 and the XEV 9e, priced starting from ₹19.95 lakh.
Although the XUV 7XO and XEV 9S fall in separate segments, competing with different rivals, the top-end petrol and diesel variants of the XUV 7XO and the lower to mid variants (Pack One Above and Pack Two Above) of the XEV 9S may be similarly priced, clashing around the ₹20-25 lakh mark.
