Genesis Could Bring These Cars To India By 2027

Hyundai's luxury division, Genesis, plans to launch in India by 2027. This move targets the growing demand for premium vehicles in a market where luxury sales are increasing steadily. With Hyundai's established presence in India, Genesis aims to offer high-end SUVs, focusing on electric and hybrid models. History of Genesis

Genesis started as a Hyundai concept in 2003, a luxury sedan prototype aimed at competing with established brands. The production model launched in 2008 with a 4.6-liter V8 engine and features like leather seats and advanced audio, priced under $40,000. In 2015, Genesis became a standalone brand, the first new luxury marque from an Asian automaker in decades. 

Genesis by far its known as best value for money luxury carmaker (much like Lexus) with offering products with top notch quality for half the price which their German rivals usually costs. Launch in India would mean that customer here who usually flock to Audi, BMW and Mercedes will have a same level of product at a much more accessible price.

Why India?

India's automotive market is expanding, with luxury segment growth at about 25% annually, driven by a rising middle class. Hyundai, India's second-largest carmaker, has factories in Chennai and Talegaon and plans to invest ₹45,000 crore by FY30, including 26 new models. 

Genesis fits this strategy, offering value in the premium space, with better warranties and technology than European rivals at lower prices. The focus on EVs matches India's push for electrification, with projections of 10 million units sold yearly by 2027. Local production could reduce costs and duties, making models more accessible.

The Genesis GV60 is an all-electric compact SUV that combines performance with luxury. With a range of up to 481 km on a full charge and rapid 18-minute charging capabilities, it offers both efficiency and convenience. In India, it's expected to be priced between ₹46.1 lakh and ₹60.5 lakh, competing with the Audi Q4 e-tron and the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Genesis GV70 – Midsize Luxury SUV

The Genesis GV70 offers a blend of elegance and performance in a midsize SUV. With engine options up to 375 hp and a refined interior featuring a 27-inch OLED display, it caters to those seeking both power and comfort. Genesis will be positioning it against competitors like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. Its spacious cabin and advanced safety features enhance its appeal.

Genesis GV80 – Full-Size Luxury SUV

The Genesis GV80 is a full-size luxury SUV that was recently patented and will likely be launched first.It most powerful config features a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine delivering 380 hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The interior boasts a 27-inch OLED display, Nappa leather upholstery, and a 21-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system. 

Safety features include adaptive cruise control, surround-view cameras, and pedestrian detection. In India, it's expected to be priced between ₹58.5 lakh and ₹70.0 lakh, competing with the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
