India’s luxury car market remained niche but steady in January 2026, with total registrations of around 4,273 units across luxury and ultra-luxury brands.
German brands continued to dominate overall volumes, while ultra-luxury marques stayed firmly exclusive with single-digit or low double-digit registrations.
BMW led the segment with 1,873 units, driven by strong demand for its SUV lineup and the top-of-the-line i7 sedan. Mercedes-Benz followed closely with 1,699 units, supported by consistent performers like the E-Class and GLC SUVs. The recently launched S-Class facelift could add incremental volumes once it goes on sale in India.
Audi, however, struggled badly, registering just 24 units for the month, highlighting its limited portfolio and slower recovery in the Indian luxury car space.

BMW
BMW topped the luxury sales chart in January 2026 with 1,873 registrations, improving on the 1,709 units recorded a year earlier. Strong demand for SUVs continued to work in BMW’s favour, with the X1, X3, and X5 doing the heavy lifting, while the 3 Series remained the brand’s most popular sedan.
Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz followed closely with 1,699 registrations, slightly lower than the 1,779 units seen in January 2025. The dip is largely linked to last year’s registration spillover. The long-wheelbase E-Class continued to anchor sales, supported by the GLE and GLS SUVs.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)
JLR registered 415 units in January 2026, down from 468 a year earlier. Demand remained centred on high-end SUVs, with the Defender and Range Rover models accounting for most volumes as buyer preference continues to shift toward luxury lifestyle vehicles.

Audi
Audi registered just 24 units, down from 41 units in January 2025, with sales largely limited to the Q5 and Q7 SUVs and a few A6 sedans. Things are looking pretty bleak for the brand due to its ageing portfolio and no concrete roadmap for India.
Other Brands
Volvo India posted 162 registrations in January 2026, up from 146 units a year earlier, with its safety-first positioning and clean design continuing to attract buyers, led by the XC60 and XC90. Porsche recorded 61 registrations, reflecting its small but loyal customer base, with the Cayenne S and Macan SUVs accounting for the bulk of volumes ahead of sports cars like the 911.
Lamborghini delivered 9 units in line with its ultra-exclusive image, almost entirely driven by the Urus, while Bentley followed with 6 registrations, mostly from the Bentayga SUV. Rolls-Royce recorded 5 units, typically led by the Cullinan, with the Phantom and Ghost catering to a very small set of ultra-wealthy buyers.
Ferrari delivered 4 units under its tightly controlled allocation model, depending on the availability of cars like the Roma, SF90, or Purosangue, while Maserati registered 3 units with the Levante remaining its primary contributor.
Aston Martin rounded off the list with a single registration, underlining its rarity in India, with the DBX SUV continuing to be its most relevant offering.
