All-Electric Second-Generation Range Rover Velar Spied Testing

The next-generation Range Rover Velar is shaping up to be one of the boldest transformations in the luxury SUV segment. Recent spy shots from Northern Europe, captured just days ago, show heavily camouflaged prototypes undergoing cold-weather testing. This indicates Jaguar Land Rover's shift to a fully electric powertrain.
The most striking change is the all-new fastback coupe-SUV silhouette. Unlike the upright, more traditional SUV stance of the current Velar (introduced in 2017 and facelifted in 2023), this new model features a sharply sloping roofline that drops steeply after the B-pillar, creating a low, aerodynamic profile.

Visible details include frameless doors, flush pop-up electric door handles, slim horizontal LED headlights and taillights nearing production spec, and a clamshell hood and tailgate. It is being speculated that the traditional rear window may be eliminated, relying completely on digital camera systems for enhanced aero efficiency.
Built on JLR's new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) with 800V capability, the Velar EV is expected to pack a battery larger than 100 kWh, delivering around 600 km of WLTP range. Dual-motor all-wheel-drive setups could produce over 500 HP in base form, with ultra-fast charging and advanced driver assists.
JLR could unveil the model by late 2026, with sales possibly commencing from 2027.
