Mahindra turned it fortunes around when they introduced the new generation Thar in 2020. The refreshed design and aggressive pricing made it a value for money proposition very hard to ignore, leading to sales numbers never seen before for the SUV.
Fast forward to 2025, Mahindra is now working on a facelift of the 3 door Thar, following the success of the 5 door Thar Roxx. Taking a closer look at the images gives us an idea of what to expect from the facelifted Thar.
Exterior
The front fascia of the new Thar seems to have been borrowed from its 5 door counterpart, sharing a very similar vertical slat grille design. The headlights too seem to get a projector setup with C-shaped LED DRLs as seen on the Thar Roxx. While both the front and rear bumpers are camouflaged, they too are expected to be derived from the Thar Roxx.
While a new design is expected for the alloy wheels, these may be 18 inch wheels, unlike the 19 inch ones that come with the Roxx.
Interior
On the inside, the new Thar seems to have undergone significant changes, featuring elements seen on the Thar Roxx. Major changes include a new, bigger touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, and an all new steering wheel. The Thar seems to be missing out on ADAS, auto dimming IRVMs and a front centre armrest.
Expected Launch
Expected to hit the roads by the festive season later this year, or in early 2026, the Thar facelift is likely to continue with the existing 2.0L petrol, 1.5L and 2.2L diesel engines with manual and automatic gearbox options in 4WD and RWD drivetrains.
