- 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee India Launch
Jeep has unveiled the 2026 Grand Cherokee with subtle design updates, but major powertrain changes to keep it competitive in a crowded market. This mid-cycle refresh builds on the fifth-generation platform without major overhauls. Production has already begun in the US, with global markets including India awaiting its arrival.
Design Changes

The 2026 Grand Cherokee retains its bold, upright shape that Jeep fans admire, but it gets a light facelift to feel fresh. Up front, the iconic seven-slot grille sees small adjustments for a cleaner appearance, paired with slimmer LED headlights. The front and rear bumpers are reshaped slightly, giving the SUV a more streamlined profile. At the rear, updated taillights and a simplified tailgate design help it stand out from the current model.
Jeep has also added new colour choices, including Steel Blue, Copper Shino, and Fathom Blue. Instead of shiny chrome accents, higher trims use satin metallic grey or silver finishes for a more premium appeal. New alloy wheel designs complete the changes, giving the SUV a rugged yet refined look. These updates are minor compared to the major redesign it received in 2021.
Interior

Inside, the dashboard of the 2026 Grand Cherokee has been reworked, with a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen supported by the latest Uconnect software, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A digital driver's cluster adds to the high-tech appeal, and top variants offer a 10.3-inch screen for the front passenger to enjoy movies or navigation on the go. The centre console swaps some physical buttons for touch controls, while keeps manual vents for easy use.
Comfort features shine in upscale versions like the Summit, with Palermo leather seats, open-pore wood trim, a suede headliner, and ambient lighting. A panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree camera system make long drives better. Audiophiles will appreciate the optional 19-speaker McIntosh setup, while extra USB-C ports and a digital inside rear view mirror handle modern needs. Boot space stays generous at 1067 litres with the second row up, expanding to a massive 2004 litres when folded down.

Under the hood, the biggest change is the addition of a 2.0-litre Hurricane four-cylinder turbo engine, delivering 324 hp and 450 Nm of torque, a significant step up from the outgoing 2.0-litre turbo's 270 hp and 295 Nm. It uses advanced tech like dual fuel injectors, two spark plugs per cylinder, and a turbulent jet ignition system borrowed from racing designs. This setup promises 20% more power and torque, plus a 10% boost in fuel efficiency over the previous four-cylinder option.
Buyers can still opt for the familiar 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 producing 293 hp and 352 Nm, which is good for daily commutes. For the environmentally conscious, the 4xe plug-in hybrid continues to be an option with 375 hp and 637 Nm from its turbo four cylinder and electric motor combo, plus a 17.3 kWh battery for short electric-only runs.
All engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and Jeep's Selec-Terrain four-wheel-drive system, with options for rear-wheel drive on base models. The Hurricane four could deliver a range of up to 814 km on a full tank of fuel, while the hybrid manages a combined range of 756 km.

2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee India Launch
In India, the Grand Cherokee has been the flagship model for Jeep, appealing to buyers seeking a big, luxurious American SUV. The current model, which has been unchanged since 2022, starts at ₹63 lakh ex-showroom, topping out at nearly ₹80 lakh for the top-end variants. It sells steadily despite high import duties, thanks to its strong V6 and hybrid options.
Although Jeep has not confirmed any details yet, the global rollout suggests India could get it as a fully imported unit, soon after US sales begin. With the new turbo engine and feature upgrades, a reasonable price bump is expected. Entry-level variants might start from around ₹65-70 lakh, while the top-end hybrids could push ₹85-90 lakh ex-showroom. These prices would continue making it competitive against rivals such as the Audi Q7, Mercedes GLE, and BMW X5, among others.
Jeep India’s current SUV lineup, apart from the Grand Cherokee, includes the Compass, Meridian, and the iconic Wrangler.
