Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Flex Fuel Key Specifications
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Flex Fuel Overview

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR Bioflex is India’s first mass-market Flex Fuel Vehicle (FFV), engineered to run on ethanol-petrol blends ranging from E20 to E85. By supporting up to 85% ethanol, this modified 1.2-litre hatchback aims to slash crude oil dependency.
Currently, it is offered exclusively to commercial fleet operators and is based on the top-spec ZXi+ manual trim.
Visually, the Bioflex retains the standard tall-boy silhouette, distinguished only by unique badging and side decals. On the inside, the dual-tone cabin features a 17.78 cm touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
On safety, it features 6 airbags and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Hill Hold Control.
While the car shares the 335-litre boot and standard color palette of the base model, its widespread adoption faces infrastructure hurdles..
Engine and Performance
Engine and Performance
The WagonR Bioflex is powered by Maruti's K12N unit, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine.
On E20 petrol (the standard fuel currently sold at most pumps), it produces 90.9 PS and 113.7 Nm of torque, driving the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission.
Meanwhile, the power and torque figures for the E85 have not been officially disclosed yet.
To support higher ethanol blends, the powertrain features upgraded injectors and fuel pump, ethanol-resistant fuel lines, a recalibrated ECU, and an ethanol sensor.
The system automatically detects ethanol content and adjusts fueling without driver input.
fuel economy
fuel economy
Maruti Suzuki has not released official ARAI-certified mileage figures for the WagonR Bioflex variant yet.
The regular WagonR can return up to 16 kmpl in real-world driving, while the CNG variant can deliver around 25 km/kg. We expect the flex-fuel version to return approximately 12-14 kmpl in real-world conditions, as E85 fuel is up to 30 percent less efficient than regular petrol due to its lower energy density.
This means owners will likely see a noticeable drop in fuel economy compared to the standard petrol model, although the lower cost of E85 could help offset some of the higher fuel consumption.
interior

The WagonR Bioflex mirrors the top-spec model's dual-tone black and beige cabin. Its upright dashboard creates an airy feel, anchored by a leather-wrapped, tilt-adjustable steering wheel with integrated audio and call controls.
An analogue-digital cluster features an orange-backlit MID displaying fuel consumption, distance-to-empty, and a gear shift indicator.
A central 17.78 cm (7-inch) SmartPlay Studio touchscreen supports wired Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, USB, and AUX, paired with four speakers.
Below sit manual climate controls with front and rear vents, an accessory socket, and console USB ports.
Four power windows, central locking, and electrically retractable ORVMs with turn indicators come standard. Additional details include a day/night rearview mirror, front sunvisor amenities, and child-proof rear locks.
In the back, 60:40 split-folding seats easily expand the 335-litre boot space past a fitted parcel tray.

safety
safety
Standardizing the top-tier safety kit from the regular model, the WagonR Bioflex features six airbags and Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
Active driver aids include ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Control, and reverse parking sensors.
Rounding out the safety package are speed-sensitive auto door locks, seat belt reminders for all rows, and an engine immobilizer.
On crash tests, the standard WagonR currently carries a 1-star Global NCAP rating based on 2023 tests of the dual-airbag variant, which scored 19.69 points for adult and 3.40 for child protection.
While the Bioflex’s additional side and curtain airbags theoretically improve safety, the model has not yet undergone a Bharat NCAP assessment to confirm a higher rating
