The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso uses a single 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine across petrol and CNG configurations. The powertrain options support both manual shifting and AGS automatic for convenience in stop-go traffic.

The design focuses on high seating for better visibility and easy access. Inside, it provides essential connectivity and storage suited to small families or daily commuters.

Regarding capacity, seating is five on petrol variants and four on the CNG variant, where the boot-mounted cylinder reduces available room.

As for safety, the S-Presso is built on Maruti's HEARTECT platform and is equipped with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors, among others. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and Hill Hold assist are also available on AGS-equipped variants.

However, in the 2022 Global NCAP test the model scored 1 star for adult occupant protection and 0 stars for child occupant protection.

Engine and Performance

The S-Presso gets a 1.0-litre K10C three-cylinder engine. In petrol form it produces 67.6 hp at 5600 rpm and 91.1 Nm at 3400 rpm.

Whereas, the CNG variant operates in two modes - on CNG it produces 56 hp with 82.1 Nm, while the output in petrol mode remains the same as the petrol only variant.

Transmission wise, the petrol variant is available with a 5-speed manual or AGS automatic transmission, and the CNG variant is offered only with the 5-speed manual.

ARAI-certified figures for the S-Presso are as follows - petrol manual returns 24.12 km/l and 24.76 km/l depending on variant, while the petrol AGS returns 25.30 km/l. The CNG manual variant returns 32.73 km/kg.

Also, the petrol fuel tank holds 27 litres, while the CNG cylinder has an equivalent water filling capacity of 55 litres.

interior

The S-Presso’s high seating position is meant to give the driver a commanding view of the road, which is especially useful in dense city traffic. Inside, the dashboard layout keeps controls within easy reach and features an instrument cluster with digital readouts.

Higher trims add steering-mounted audio and voice controls for the 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen, which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB/aux connectivity through two speakers.

For utility, the cabin includes a front console space, a co-driver side utility area, 1-litre bottle holders in the front doors, and an accessory socket for charging.

Seating wise, both reclining and sliding front seats come with sunvisors, while the rear bench accommodates two adults with the tall roofline ensuring ample headroom on longer trips.

exterior

The S-Presso wears a bold front fascia with a prominent grille and twin-chamber headlamps that give it a more upright, commanding stance than typical hatchbacks in its class.

Along the sides, body cladding reinforces the SUV-influenced silhouette, while a B-pillar black-out tape adds a visual break to the profile. Also, a roof antenna is mounted at the top for radio reception.

At the rear, signature C-shaped tail lamps carry the design to a clean finish.

safety

Built on Maruti's HEARTECT platform, the S-Presso includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, front seatbelt pre-tensioners and force limiters, rear parking sensors, central door locking, and speed-sensitive auto door locks as standard.

AGS-equipped variants also feature Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and Hill Hold assist.

The Kwid offers a 279-litre boot, 184 mm ground clearance, and automatic transmission options, while the S-Presso counters with factory CNG, ARAI-certified CNG mileage of 32.73 km/kg, and a tall, SUV-inspired stance that gives it strong road presence in city use.
