The Nexon is priced between ₹7.32 Lakh and ₹14.30 Lakh. Under the hood, the Fronx features a 998cc engine producing 98.69bhp at 5500rpm and 147.6Nm of torque, paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission. The Nexon offers a more powerful 1199cc engine delivering 118.27bhp and 170Nm of torque with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. While both cars use front-wheel drive for city efficiency, the Nexon provides a mileage of 17.0 kmpl. Both cars seat five people comfortably, but the Nexon offers a significantly larger boot at 382 litres compared to the 308 litres in the Fronx. The Fronx interior features a digital cluster and an ARKAMYS premium sound system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Nexon includes a slim bezel touchscreen and rear AC vents for better passenger comfort. Both vehicles come with LED headlamps, LED DRLs, and leather-wrapped steering wheels. Smart Summary for Car Selection
Why Choose Maruti Suzuki FRONX?Why choose
- Its 1.0 turbo can be paired with a torque-converter automatic rather than a dual-clutch
- Considerably better fuel economy than the Nexon across comparable versions
- Maruti's service network is the widest in the country, with the strongest resale in this class
- Front seats earn praise for lumbar and under-thigh support on long journeys
- A surround-view camera and head-up display on the loaded version
- Six airbags, stability control and hill assist standard even at entry level
Why not choose
- Neither crash-testing body has published a rating for it, where the Nexon holds five stars from two
- No diesel, so high-mileage buyers lose an option the Nexon provides
- Its 308-litre boot is smaller than the Nexon's and the loading lip is high
- Wireless Apple CarPlay is unreliable by owner accounts and the audio is ordinary
- Its CNG uses a single-cylinder layout, which limits practicality
- Lower ground clearance and less SUV presence than the Nexon
Why Choose Tata Nexon?Why choose
- 5-star results from both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP, with six airbags standard throughout
- Four fuel types including turbo-petrol, diesel, CNG and electric
- Its diesel produces 260Nm, making it the far better long-distance tool
- 208mm of ground clearance clears bad roads comfortably
- More rear-seat space and a considerably larger boot
- A panoramic sunroof and JBL audio on higher versions
Why not choose
- Fit and finish trails Maruti's in places
- Its configuration count makes the range genuinely confusing
- The CNG runs detuned and comes only with a manual
- Owner reports on Tata's after-sales quality vary widely by dealer
- Resale does not match the Fronx's
- Higher running costs than the Fronx
Our Recommendation For Most BuyersMaruti Fronx
The Fronx is the more economical choice across the length of ownership, and Maruti's service density, lower fuel costs and resale strength usually matter more in practice than the extra features a rival lists. Its turbo is the version worth buying, and Maruti pairs it with a torque-converter automatic rather than a dual-clutch, which removes a worry that follows several competitors in this segment.
Start at least one rung above the entry car, which goes without a music system and undercuts the appeal entirely. CNG suits heavy monthly running with some compromise. The missing crash rating is the one genuine concern to weigh, particularly against a rival holding five stars.
Tata Nexon
The Nexon answers with tested safety and a breadth of choice that nothing else in this class matches, and both are substantive rather than promotional. Its diesel is the one to take if you cover serious highway distance, since 260Nm makes a loaded car relaxed in a way no Fronx engine can approach. The turbo-petrol with the dual-clutch covers daily driving with some enjoyment, CNG suits very high monthly running, and the electric version works well if home charging is available.
Mid-range versions carry the best value, with the surround-view camera, panoramic sunroof and driver assistance sitting higher. Its space advantage over the Fronx is real and noticeable.

Things We Like in Maruti Suzuki FRONX
- Offers both naturally aspirated and turbo-petrol engine options.
- Available with manual, AMT, and torque converter automatic transmissions.
Things We Like in Tata Nexon
- Holds 5-star ratings from both Bharat NCAP (2024) and Global NCAP (2024), scoring 29.41/32 and 32.22/34 respectively for adult occupant protection.
- The 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCA) is a notably sophisticated transmission for this price band, featuring wet clutch technology with active cooling, machine learning adaptation, and a self-healing mechanism.
Things We Don't Like in Maruti Suzuki FRONX
- No diesel engine option available in the lineup.
- No factory-offered sunroof, which several rivals provide.
Things We Don't Like in Tata Nexon
- Knee airbags are not available on any variant, a gap that is flagged in the Bharat NCAP safety equipment listing.
- The CNG variant is available only with a 6-speed manual transmission system. No automatic option exists for buyers who want both CNG running costs and a gearbox-free driving experience.
