The BYD DM-i powertrain pairs a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with dual electric motors and an 18.3 kWh Blade Battery, prioritising electric driving over conventional hybrid setups. It can run up to 70 km in pure EV mode for city use, while the petrol engine mainly recharges the battery and supports high-speed or heavy-load driving. 

BYD claims 43.04 percent thermal efficiency and a fuel efficiency of 4.8 litres per 100 km, with a total range exceeding 1,200 km. Globally, the Seal U offers premium features like a 15.6-inch rotating screen, ADAS, and AWD variants, and is expected in India at Rs 35–45 lakh.
