The Innova HyCross is offered with two 2.0-litre petrol powertrains. The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 173 PS and 209 Nm, paired with a CVT automatic transmission. The strong hybrid version combines the same petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined system output of approximately 186 PS, delivering smoother acceleration, quieter city driving, and significantly better fuel efficiency. 

Front-wheel drive is standard across the range, while the TNGA platform provides improved ride quality and better handling than previous Innova generations

The petrol variants have an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 16.13 km/l, while the strong hybrid variants deliver up to 23.24 km/l, making the HyCross one of the most fuel-efficient full-size MPVs available in India. 

Real-world mileage varies depending on traffic conditions, driving style, and load, with hybrid models generally delivering noticeably better economy in city driving due to frequent EV operation.

The dashboard features layered panels with soft-touch surfaces and metallic trim, housing a 10.1-inch touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB ports, and voice commands. 

This interface is complemented by a leather-wrapped steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustment and mounted controls for audio, phone, cruise, and trip information.

For the driver, the instrument cluster integrates a multi-information display showing fuel economy, trip data, and hybrid system status.

The seating layout offers second-row captain chairs or bench options that slide, recline, and fold independently, allowing for 7 or 8-seater configurations. These setups incorporate third-row 60:40 split benches to maximize cabin flexibility.

Rear passengers are provided with dedicated air-conditioning vents with independent controls, reading lamps, power outlets, and cup holders in the armrests. Combined with generous legroom and headroom, these features ensure comfort for all occupants on long family trips.

The Innova HyCross adopts a more premium SUV-inspired design compared to its predecessor. It features a large hexagonal grille with chrome detailing, sleek LED headlamps, LED DRLs, muscular wheel arches, and alloy wheels up to 18 inches. The rear gets wraparound LED tail lamps connected by a chrome garnish, while the long wheelbase provides a commanding road presence. 

Higher variants also offer powered tailgate functionality and premium exterior detailing that enhances its upscale appearance

The Innova Hycross received a 5-star rating in Bharat NCAP testing conducted in 2025, scoring 30.47 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child occupant protection.

The Innova Hycross closely competes with the Maruti Suzuki Invicto and the Kia Carnival in its segment.

The Invicto shares the identical hybrid powertrain, 23.24 kmpl ARAI mileage, wheelbase and cabin layout with the Hycross, but differentiates itself through a distinct front grille and Maruti’s widespread service network. It also benefits from slightly lower maintenance costs owing to Maruti's affordable spare parts availability across the country.

The Carnival counters with a 2.2-litre diesel engine and a more upscale cabin finish with larger overall dimensions, while the Hycross maintains an edge in hybrid fuel efficiency and lower emissions. The Carnival additionally provides a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats in higher trims, and superior sound insulation. Conversely, the Hycross excels in urban commuting with its hybrid system, compact footprint that aids easier maneuverability, and a CVT gearbox.
