The Tata Tiago EV offers two battery options - a 19.2 kWh pack with 61 hp and 110 Nm, or a 24 kWh pack with 74 hp and 114 Nm, with the larger battery providing an ARAI-certified range of up to 293 km.

For daily use, charging is straightforward via home setups, while DC fast charging can top up the battery from 10 to 80% in about 58 minutes.

Visually, the car retains the Tiago’s clean shape with EV-specific touches like a closed grille and blue accents. Inside, the cabin features a dual-tone dashboard, a digital instrument cluster, and a touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

On the utility front, it fits four adults comfortably with a 240-litre boot.

Safety is also a priority, as the platform carries a 4-star Global NCAP rating for adults and 3 stars for children, supported by dual airbags and ABS.

Overall, the Tiago EV offers a simple and practical route into electric driving.

Battery and Motor

The Tiago EV’s electric motor is paired with a single-speed fully automatic transmission featuring City and Sport modes. Specifically, the 19.2 kWh Medium Range variant produces 61 hp and 110 Nm, while the 24 kWh Long Range variant raises output to 74 hp and 114 Nm.

Acceleration from 0-60 km/h is timed at 6.2 seconds and 5.7 seconds respectively under standard conditions. Meanwhile, top speed is electronically limited to 120 km/h.

For durability, both the battery pack and motor carry an IP67 ingress protection rating with liquid cooling.

Range and Charging

ARAI-certified full-charge range stands at 223 km for the 19.2 kWh battery and 293 km for the 24 kWh battery. However, Tata’s C75 real-world estimate provides a more practical 168 km and 205 km respectively.

To recharge, the car uses the CCS2 standard with an included 3.3 kW AC wall box. Using a 15A domestic plug, 10% to 100% takes approximately 6.9 hours for the Medium Range or 8.7 hours for the Long Range.

Alternatively, a 7.2 kW AC fast charger reduces this to 2.6 or 3.6 hours, while DC fast charging achieves a 10-80% charge in around 58 minutes for both packs.

interior

Inside the Tiago EV, the dashboard gets a clean dual-tone black and off-white layout with blue EV accents and straightforward switchgear. This is paired with an electrically power-assisted steering wheel, available in leatherette with mounted audio and phone controls on higher trims.

Technology wise, the Harman infotainment system offers a 17.78 cm or 26.03 cm floating touchscreen with wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and connected car tech.

Additionally, the digital instrument cluster provides clear EV-specific readouts. For comfort, the front seats offer 6-way adjustment while the rear bench accommodates three adults.

Lastly, practicality is handled by a 240-litre boot, which includes a puncture repair kit instead of a spare wheel.

exterior

The Tiago EV maintains a 1536 mm height and 165-166 mm unladen ground clearance suited for Indian roads.

From up front, it presents a closed-off grille with prominent .EV badging, blue accents, and LED headlamps with DRLs on higher trims.

Along the side, the body gets clean lines with blacked-out accents, riding on 14-inch wheels with aero covers for efficiency.

The rear meanwhile gets LED tail-lamps, a shark-fin antenna, and a rear wiper, plus an electric tailgate release on top trims.

safety

The Tiago EV shares its body structure and crash-energy management architecture with the ICE Tiago. Notably, the platform earned 4 stars for adult and 3 stars for child protection in 2020 Global NCAP testing, though no separate test exists for the EV model.

Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking assist, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Higher trims add electronic stability program, hill hold control, and cruise control.

However, no ADAS features beyond these basic aids are offered.

competition

The Tiago EV closely competes with the following rivals in its segment – MG Comet EV and Citroen eC3.

The Comet EV uses a three-door, four-seat layout with minimal boot space and a smaller 17.3 kWh battery giving 230 km ARAI range. The Tiago EV counters with five doors, 240-litre boot, and two battery options for greater everyday practicality.

The eC3 offers a larger 29.2 kWh battery and 320 km ARAI range plus 315-litre boot space for longer trips and more luggage, while the Tiago EV provides quicker 0-60 km/h acceleration across its variants and easier rear-seat access in a tighter overall footprint.
