Honda has confirmed plans to evaluate a new sub 4 metre SUV for the Indian market, expected to arrive around 2028. The development was revealed during the company’s recent financial meeting. The SUV is likely to be positioned in the Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh segment and could use the same petrol engine currently offered in the Honda Amaze.

Toshihiro Mibe, Director, President and Representative Executive Officer at Honda, said,

“We will develop specifications that fully match the market conditions and customer needs in India.”

It is still too early to speculate about design, features or powertrain options, but the upcoming model is clearly being developed to challenge dominant compact SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.
