Yamaha Aerox E Overview

The Aerox-E maxi-scooter is based on the Aerox 155's frame and is Yamaha's second electric scooter in India after the EC-06 and the first developed entirely in-house.
It is nearly identical to its petrol sibling at the front, with the same apron, twin LED headlights, and X-motif bodywork. At the rear, the swingarm-mounted PMSM motor replaces the Aerox 155's engine.
Power comes from two removable 1.5 kWh battery packs, which together deliver an IDC-certified range of 117 km and a top speed of 95.5 km/h in Power + Boost mode. The scooter can also run on a single battery pack, but with reduced performance.
Features include a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, Y-Connect app support, turn-by-turn navigation, and a smart key with Answer Back.
Safety features include single-channel ABS, traction control, and disc brakes at both ends.
Lastly, it is available in a single Bluish White Cocktail colour option.
Battery and Motor
Battery and Motor
The Aerox-E is powered by a swingarm-mounted motor producing 9.4 kW (12.6 hp) of peak power and 48 Nm of torque. It has three riding modes: Eco, Standard, and Power, along with a Boost function that enables maximum output for 10 seconds.
Yamaha claims a top speed of 95.5 km/h in Power + Boost mode, along with an IDC-certified range of 117 km on a full dual-battery charge.
The claimed charging time is 3 hours 10 minutes for one battery pack (0-100%) and 6 hours 20 minutes for both packs using the included 650 W charger.
An optional dock charger that charges both packs simultaneously is also available.
Notably, it can be ridden on a single 1.5 kWh battery pack, with reduced performance.
design
design
The Aerox-E shares its overall silhouette with the petrol Aerox 155 closely enough that the two can be hard to tell apart at a glance, particularly from the front. The twin LED headlights, large front apron, and the signature X-motif body panel are all carried over unchanged.
At the rear, the blue-anodised swingarm-mounted motor replaces the engine, and the new Bluish White Cocktail paint, a glossy white with light blue and black accents, gives it a visually distinct identity from the petrol model's existing colour options.
The instrument cluster has been upgraded from the Aerox 155's LCD unit to a 5-inch colour TFT display, with revised switchgear. The rear drum brake has also been replaced by a disc brake.
The wheelbase is 1,360 mm, 10 mm longer than the petrol Aerox, while kerb weight is 139 kg, 13 kg more than the ICE version. Seat height is 812 mm, up 22 mm, with a redesigned seat offering more padding.
A wider 140/70-14 rear tyre adds to its appearance. Under-seat storage is reduced to 15 litres from 24.5 litres, as the battery packs occupy much of the space.
safety
safety
The Aerox-E comes with single-channel ABS and a Traction Control System (TCS), which helps prevent rear-wheel slip on slippery or uneven surfaces. Both features are standard.
Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends, with the rear upgraded from a drum brake on the petrol Aerox.
The smart key system with Answer Back helps locate the scooter in crowded areas by activating the indicators and a buzzer. An LED taillight and LED flashers are also present.
competition
competition
The Aerox-E closely competes with the TVS X, Simple Energy Ultra, and Ather 450 Apex in its segment and price bracket.
The TVS X outperforms the Aerox-E with a 110 km/h top speed, quicker 0-40 km/h acceleration (2.5 seconds), a larger 4.4 kWh battery, and a longer claimed IDC range. It also gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and hill-hold assist. The Aerox-E counters with two removable battery packs, allowing more convenient charging than the TVS X's fixed battery.
The Simple Energy Ultra is priced lower than the Aerox-E while offering a larger 6.5 kWh battery, a claimed 400 km IDC range, a 115 km/h top speed, quicker acceleration, and a larger 26-litre boot. The Aerox-E counters with removable battery packs and Yamaha's wider service network, which may appeal to buyers prioritising charging flexibility and after-sales support.
The Ather 450 Apex is priced below the Aerox-E and claims a 100 km/h top speed, 2.9-second 0-40 km/h acceleration, and up to 157 km IDC range. It also benefits from Ather's established fast-charging network. The Aerox-E differentiates itself with removable battery packs, larger 14-inch wheels, and a maxi-scooter design that offers a different riding experience.
